Lycée Technique Sabina NDORICIMPA celebrated a historic and proud milestone on Sunday, December 14, 2025, when it hosted its first graduation ceremony with the award of Diplomas.

The colorful ceremony was graced by His Excellency Bishop Emmanuel SINZOHAGERA, resident bishop of Burundi and Rwanda Episcopal Area of ​​the United Methodist Church.

The ceremony began with a Sunday Service where the word of God was delivered by His Excellency, Bishop Emmanuel SINZOHAGERA, reads from Matthew 8:18-24.

The Bishop reminded the congregation present that following Christ is costly and Christians should know how to count it in their daily lives.

The Bishop urged the congregation to dedicate their lives willingly and fully to serving God with loyalty and complete faith in Christ.

The bishop said, believers have been gifted the Holy Spirit who comes from God and Christians should be governed by Him to combat anything that could disrupt the church of God.

Before the graduates were awarded their diplomas, some guests were invited to give speeches to express their joy.

The Headmistress of Lycée Technique Sabina NDORICIMPA Madame HAYIMANA Eliana said that the school has three sections; Hotel and Restaurant Management, Land Surveying and Geology. Thirty-seven graduates obtained diplomas in two sections ; Hotel and Restaurant Management and Land Surveying.

The Headmistress said that the geology section is a new and needs support for the construction of new classrooms.

The Headmistress informed that the results of the graduates at the national level was at 100 percent and this result will enable all thirty-seven graduates to qualify for university studies in the country.

Honorable Georges NSHIMIRIMANA, a native of the area and a key figure during the preparation and construction of the school, briefly gave the historical background of the school and why they named it “Lycée Technique Sabina NDORICIMPA”, the name of the wife of the late Bishop Jean Alfred Ndoricimpa.

Honorable said that Madame Sabina Ndoricimpa desired quality education that would meet the needs of various communities in Gitega province and beyond.

The Director of Education in Gitega Commune, Népomucène NDAYAVURWA, expressed his gratitude for the historic event and especially to the church leadership as without them “We wouldn’t build a school like this.” He explained.

He encouraged the students to continue their studies and promised to be at the forefront of helping in future projects of building a fence and classrooms as well as providing educational advice where needed.

The administrator of Gitega Commune, Dr. Jacques NDUWIMANA, in his speech expressed his willingness to support by contributing to the construction of three new geology classrooms to demonstrate a unified vision of the school’s growth and success.

Resident Bishop reminded that the good results shown by the graduates implement the vision of the church to create and empower the next generation of leaders, scholars, and bring about change in the country and the world at large.

The resident bishop told the community present that the church is witnessing the fruits of its vision that sought to bring education closer to the community, equip young people with skills that are practical, relevant and transformative.

He stressed that education remains the most powerful tool in bringing about change in society, especially the youth who are going to take on responsibilities in the future. “This is not only a graduation ceremony, but also a celebration of hope and courage from generation to generation.” The resident bishop added.
