On June 14, 2025, the resident bishop of the United Methodist Church in Burundi and Rwanda, Bishop Emmanuel Sinzohagera(PhD) visited the Gahambwe Health Center of the United Methodist Church in Burundi. The purpose of this visit was to meet with the staff of the Health Center and discuss their concerns.

In his welcoming remarks, the coordinator of the health department of the United Methodist Church in Burundi provided an overview of the current state of the Health Center, highlighting achievements and ongoing activities.
He stressed that the Gahambwe Health Center began its operations on March 1, 2025, and is responding positively to the alarming demand from the population. He added, “This success is due to the support in medications and other supplies we received from GBGM/GLOBAL HEALTH. This support has allowed us to gain the trust of our beneficiaries, especially since other health centers in the area lack sufficient medications”. He also noted that the Gahambwe Health Center should serve as a role model for the locality, as the Gahambwe community has been chosen as a pilot site in the Integrated Health Program.

After this speech, the bishop commended the work being done and provided an opportunity for the health center holder to give a brief presentation.
The Health center Holder spoke about the general situation at the health center and the staff’s concerns. “Since March, the health center has welcomed 7,454 patients (across all categories)”, he said.
“The health center, which is new in its operations, has minimal staff and needs to move forward for the glory of the Lord”, said bishop Emmanuel. He emphasized that the health center is a place of evangelism where all staff must be engaged in the Lord’s mission, as the harvest is plentiful. He also invited everyone to work in harmony with their hearts, stating that “each hard worker deserves a reward”.

Regarding the infrastructure needs to accommodate vaccination and nutrition services for the Integrated Health Program, the bishop expressed his appreciation and promised to collaborate with the Kinyinya district superintendent to address the implementation of this request.
Finally, The Resident Bishop got an opportunity to visit patients admitted to the Health Center and lovely encourage them.
