On Friday, June 27, 2025, in Gitega, at the Nyabugogo Parish, held a training session for leaders of the Compassion Department from various districts based on the theme “GO AND DO THE SAME”.

Opening the session, Reverend Deacon Delphine UWIMANA, the chair of the Compassion Department at the conference level, based on the story of Good Samaritan in the gospel of Luke 10:25-37, emphasized five key points for compassionate person:

-Have mercy in their heart

-Get close to the person in need;

-Welcome and understand them;

-Know the help needed;

-Giving one’s things to help

She urged the attendees saying: “Let us go beyond our boundaries and do good to all, be like the Samaritan who did good to the person even though they had nothing in common.” The trainers were grateful for the story of the Good Samaritan, where it is shown what compassion is and who needs it. The Good Samaritan was characterized by compassion, mercy and forgiveness because he took what was his and helped the one who was indeed in need. Jesus tells us to do the same.

Then followed a discussion on the best way to carry out this work. The compassion leaders took advantage to present the achievement from their respective districts. The leader then gave a goal to follow and asked everyone to present four projects that they are going to implement based on what is urgent in their location.

Reverend Deacon UWIMANA Delphine concluded the session by expressing her gratitude towards those who attended and encouraged them saying that the activity of compassion, although not easy, is beneficial for the community and the church since it is an evangelism that brings many to salvation.
